A steel detailing designer is required to know about force and pressure – getting the building to yield to outside pressures, and when to resist such pressures, to maximize the integrity of the building. A building must also resist huge weights, and so this must also be taken into account. From snow weight to wind speed, a steel structure detailer must think about all kinds of outside pressures.
In these modern times, there’s a greater need for creative design, which means the detailer can oftentimes be pushed to accept tricky designs and try to render them into a safe living space for hundreds of people.
However, it’s not all tough for the detailer – computer software like AutoCad, Asteel and Tekla Steel have helped speed up the process of drafting and detailing steel structures.
