Best Bluffing Opportunities
Bluffing is an important part of playing poker online, although as a tactic, it tends to be overrated and over-used. You have to be selective about bluffing and look for the best opportunities. Always keep in mind who is betting behind you before attempting a poker bluff. When you have tight players behind you, then a bluff has a better chance of succeeding, particularly if tight poker players are sitting in the blinds. Bluffing ahead of a loose player is risky since they are unpredictable and your bluff is apt to be called.
One of the best times to attempt a bluff is right after the flop, especially if board is all raggy cards. Since statistically, players fail to connect with the flop 70 percent of the time and so should fold, an aggressive bet here can scare off the competition. If you’re hold two over cards or a draw, go for the semi-bluff because your hand could improve, and most likely, the other players do not have a hand worth chasing. River card bluffs are dangerous. It’s true that sometimes you can only win the pot by putting out a bet, but any time another player had remained to the river, you should presume that player has some kind of hand that will beat your bluff.
